The equipment of the Optoma HD65 projector includes 1600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 4000:1 with a HDTV 1280 x 720 display. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 2000 hours for this projector's lamp. Regarding projection size, the value of 1600 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 406 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 271 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. The projector was released in 2007 and is officially no longer distributed by Optoma. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

Hello, I hope someone can help me here. I have an Optoma HD67 and need a new color wheel for it, but can‘t find a spare part online. However, I have noticed that the color wheel from this HD65 device matches the color sequences here. Are these compatible?

Have fun with the HD65 incl. 3D firmware update
Have been using the HD65 for around 3 years (700 hours) and have always enjoyed it. I usually watch Bluray movies or play XBOX 360. I hate to praise it but for the price range I find the performance outstandingly good. Next I‘m looking forward to the 3d xl box from Optoma. Could be there by Saturday :). The firmware upgrade installed flawlessly and is waiting for 3d input. I hope the people at Optoma stay so innovative, then the next projector from this manufacturer is booked.

Super 3D-Beamer!
3D-Beamer? You might say it‘s not. It is after the update available from Optoma and this works smoothly. The 3D effect is outstanding, I only see a slight rainbow effect due to the differently controlled color wheel
If you can still get it - still recommendable up to 300€!

super part
I‘ve had my HD65 for almost 3 years now and have 900 hours on the lamp. If the lamp lasts another 900, it will have earned its money.
I bought it new for 460 euros in the bay, so the price-performance ratio is of course excellent.
I use it to fill a screen with a 305cm diagonal (120) and am still quite satisfied even with the picture from my old D-Box2. Of course it could be a little quieter, but in this price and size class the noise development is absolutely acceptable. A few decibels quieter is always a few hundred more expensive.

Price/performance is just right!!!
I can only recommend this projector!!! For the price MM is offering, it really is unbeatable. I need it to fill a 2m wide screen and it does that very well. Of course, the price lacks a few optical adjustment options, but if you can measure well and pay attention to the manufacturer‘s specifications, then you get a lot of picture for your investment. The important thing is to measure first and then buy, as the zoom is really small. I can only say one thing about the fan: "If you can hear it, the system is too quiet".

I also made the right decision
After I had decided to buy a projector, I tried to get as much information as possible about the different devices. However, I then decided relatively spontaneously in favor of the HD 65 from Optoma. I went for the promotional offer at Media Markt (€ 577.00). I‘ve been using the device for four weeks now.
At the moment it is still provisionally installed and the images etc. are projected onto my old slide screen (120 cm wide). The sharpness far exceeds that of my old TV set. The operating noise in Eco mode (Std) is absolutely acceptable; in Normal mode (Bright) the device is a little too loud. The connection options are sufficient. The only thing missing is a DVI connection, but I think there are adapters for this. Based on my experience so far, I can really recommend the device.

RICHTIGE ENTSCHEIDUNG !!
I wanted a projector. So I looked at eBay... I really had no idea. Then I bought a “machine” from Steinmann at Christmas as a “beginner”. Well. It looked good at first. But: soooooo loud... and somehow not such a great picture. It couldnt last long! So get the right information.... Various forums and also this database were a great help. I didnt want to spend too much, but it should be HD-Ready. So I decided on the HD 700. Almost ordered it from EP. BUT THEN: advertised at Media Markt. HD 65 for... 576 euros... awesome! And then another 100 euro gift card. For almost 476 euros, a TOP projector. Perfect. For two weeks now, it has been the new gem on the living room ceiling. My wife thought that the noise would continue. But... ...device on and ???? A dream! Quiet!!! The 5.1 system did not have to be made louder. (unlike my 1st projector)
And then the picture! Great. Although my “screen” is currently still a real temporary solution. (with white A4 sheets taped together - approx. 200x120. But of course that still has to change!!! I supply the HD 65 via 10m HDMI. The PS3 gives the Optoma exactly what it needs. I made the right decision! The follow-up costs are also pleasant. (inexpensive replacement lamp). When is the next World Cup finally? I want to watch...

Keystone correction
@Cinius
The HD65 has no optical correction aids, such as lens shifting. I did not claim that it has no keystone correction. However, the keystone correction on the HD65 is NOT optical, but digital!
Digital keystone correction = loss of image quality, as the vertical edges of the image can only be straightened by compression and thus by loss of resolution and sharpness.
If you are not bothered by suboptimal picture quality, you can of course nail the projector directly to the ceiling

The only thing missing now is the popcorn machine
Summary: Awesome thing!
I‘ve had it hanging from the ceiling for 2 days and I‘m thrilled.
The installation was problem-free. However, you should be very clear about your premises, because the existing zoom option is negligible, as it only minimally enlarges or reduces the image. Simply measure the planned distance between the lens and the screen beforehand and then buy the appropriate screen. In my case it is 3.20 m and I project onto a 1.90 m wide screen (the screen is 2 meters wide with a 5 cm black border). With the overscan function you can get a bit more out of it, but if the setting is too high, the edge of the picture is cut off, but this is only noticeable if you watch the normal TV program, not noticeable with normal DVD films. Super contrast! Black is really black here! The colors appear very brilliant and lifelike.
I can hardly hear the fan. Comparable to a desktop computer. It doesn‘t bother me because the system is running on the side anyway.
Connected the device via a 10 meter HDMI cable! No problems! No picture errors or interference.
Conclusion: I‘ll look for a popcorn machine on Ebay and then the home cinema will be perfect
Can really recommend the device unconditionally, especially for the price! The lamp also costs only 160 €! Go for it!

Fully satisfied
Hello,
first impression: I am fully satisfied with the device. The fan doesn‘t bother me personally.
@spock:
Of course the HD65 has a keystone correction, so you can hang it up to 10 cm below the ceiling and still get a straight picture, alternatively you can of course also beam up at an angle from below.

Optoma 24p
Hello, Daniel! I have a Toshiba XE1 HDDVD and a Panasonic BD 35. The Optoma displays 24p on both devices, the judder on Planet Earth, for example, is significantly reduced, perhaps not quite perfect. I read somewhere that the Optoma scales to 48p and thus makes a compromise... In any case, no more noticeably annoying juddering

24p playback KLARI64?
Hello Klari64!
I‘ve also been thinking about getting a BR! But I‘m still a bit skeptical because I‘m not sure how our beamer HD65 can reproduce 24p!
Could you give me a short statement about it again!
Thank you very much

very good projector for home cinema
as already described by the previous speaker, you no longer need to go to the cinema with this projector. fabulous picture out of the box, which can be optimized with the appropriate test dvd. a usable picture even in a not completely darkened room. fan could be a little quieter, but this is not feasible with the size of the case and does not really bother.
two things you should consider before buying:
1) are you sensitive to the rainbow effect (as single-chip dlp projector)
2) can you install the projector in the intended room at all, as there are no
optical correction aids such as lens-shifting or large zoom. i.e. the beamer
must be installed exactly vertically centered, at right angles and at the correct height to the projection surface
so that there is no distortion! the projection size can also only be adjusted
via the projection distance. the optical zoom of 1.1 is only useful for
fine adjustment on a screen with masking, for example.
here you should first make a few calculations before buying. it‘s my first beamer and i bought it blindly because of good reports in forums. i had no idea about point 2 and had to deal with it afterwards and thank god it worked:
now i have the beamer hanging under the ceiling and projecting from approx. 345cm onto a 16:9 reflecta starlight screen with advance and masking a 210cmx119cm image.
tip: when measuring the projector and screen, pay meticulous attention to the cm and right angles! the optical axis of the lens must be exactly in the horizontal center of the screen.

Super Beamer
Great picture, very good contrast even in low light conditions. Very vivid colors and good sharpness with DVDs, absolutely excellent picture with Bluray, better picture than with Hd 70, more brightness, more plasticity thanks to the new color wheel, more space. Slightly louder fan, can even do 24 p, no more juddering. A top offer from the Reds for 570 euros. Recommendation !!!!

Goosebumps feeling the first time!!!
As written above, I had a really great feeling when I switched on the device for the first time. The picture is really great and nice and sharp, I connected a Samsung DVD-1080p7 via 10m HDMI. I‘ll never see the inside of a movie theater again because I have a projector. I give it a minus for the fan, it could be quieter. I always have the system running and then I don‘t notice the fan anyway, only when it‘s really quiet.
At MM it was available for a whopping 570 tacken, price.

Super BIld but a bit noisy
I‘ve had the projector for a week now, it‘s been hanging under the ceiling for 4 days and the picture is simply phenomenal. Only as Caligula69 has already criticized here, the fan noise disturbs me a little in quiet film passages.
I still have the projector connected to an older Philips DVD player via a YUV component cable and during extremely bright film passages (explosion scenes or similar) the projector loses the connection to the player very briefly, I get the blue screen for 1-2 seconds and then the picture comes back ... but that seems to me to be more due to the cinch plugs possibly being too loose on the projector or to the old DVD player ... Does anyone else know the problem and have experience in solving it?

buy buy buy buy
received the projector yesterday and I can only say uy buy buy- sure, you can hear the projector, but it is by no means too loud. What was my big worry before was oh, and just like the rainbow effect, which neither I nor my friends have seen yet. No recognizable RBE! Super projector! Also great for TV :)
Greetings! Thanks for all your opinions, I have decided on the right home theater projector!

Good picture, but torture for the ears
Have had the projector for 6 months now, the picture is really good for the price (699Euro)
Would like to keep it, especially because it is so nice and small and hangs almost invisibly under my living room ceiling.
Unfortunately, it has one major disadvantage: It‘s damn loud, a real loud brother
Had 2 Dlp projectors from Benq and Mithsubishi before, which were also audible, but no comparison to this HD65
No matter how you set up your DD system, this fan noise is always audible and is very disturbing in dialog-heavy films and other quiet passages
Really a pity, because the picture is really good, but unfortunately the volume is a NO GO!

Geiles Gerät
Find the projector simply awesome. I tried 3 of them before, starting with the
cheap one from eBay for 300 euros. Like the previous speaker, I paid 599 euros for it at MediaMarkt
and haven‘t regretted a second.
The forum only ever mentions this Sanyo Z3,Z4,Z4, but it also costs a few euros
more and the lamp twice as much...It takes a few days, but it‘s still a fact and as far as DLP and LCD are concerned, opinions differ
The rainbow effect can hardly be seen with me and my wife and none of those who have visited us have complained :)
Blu-Ray is simply perverse for the eyes!!!! Hammer!!!
It may be that other HD projectors also do a good job, but I decided on the Optoma HD65 back then and will stick with it.
Since my parents also really liked it, I‘m going to turn a room in their house that‘s currently a crimps room into a cinema room and I‘m 99% sure I‘ll also go for the Optoma HD65

Super picture Recommended
I‘ve only had the HD65 projector for a few days, so I can‘t say how long the lamp will last, but the picture is great. Very colorful, sharp, very rich in contrast, and the picture makes a very vivid impression. There are plenty of connection options, including HDMI 1.3. I use a DVD player, DigiSat system and PS3 via HDMI and YUV. All signals are very clean on the screen. One point of criticism: The manual zoom is only 1.1 times, which is very restrictive when setting up. I got the device for 599 euros, the projector is definitely worth this price.

the lamp has now broken twice within 2 months
I have to say that the picture is great, especially for blue ray films, but I‘ve had the device for 2 months now, had to have it repaired after 90 hours, lamp broken, now lamp broken again after 40 hours, the lamps are apparently no good.

to recommend
I‘ve had the projector for three days now and I have to say I‘m very satisfied, I like the picture and you can‘t say anything for the 750 euros it cost ... sure there are better ones but for my pc/ps2/wii basement just right ... i just hope that the lamp doesn‘t cost a fortune :) yes it could still have DVI ...
