The basic data of the Epson EMP 7100 includes 650 ANSI lumens, a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768 as well as a contrast of 300:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. Looking at practical performance, up to 222 cm can be illuminated with 650 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 148 cm. This device is no longer manufactured and has been removed from Epson's current lineup. For your information: Compatible lamps for this device are no longer available in stores.

As far as I can see, the Epson EMP-7100 has many faults such as convergence problems or polarizing filters that are dirty due to the apparently poor ventilation. I was probably lucky with my copy, the device had been dropped by the previous owner, the lens was broken, which was relatively easy to repair, but the picture quality (subjectively) puts some of today‘s DLP projectors far in the shade, even if the sharpness is not quite sharp.

More than enough faults
What I can say with certainty is that the convergence of the LCD panels on almost every device in this series is very poor over time. Some of these ghost images are apparently also caused by the controller board.
There are also severe thermal problems with the polarizing filters, which not infrequently become slightly scorched, which is why I am currently looking for some.
The projector is available relatively cheaply on eBay and in my opinion is interesting for hobbyists even with scorched polarizing filters, as it is relatively easy to dismantle.
