The hardware properties of the EMP 7000 manufactured by Epson include 400 ANSI lumens, a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution and a contrast value of 200:1. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 1600 hours. Looking at practical performance, up to 174 cm can be illuminated with 400 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 116 cm. The projector was released in 1997 and is officially no longer distributed by Epson.

I bought an old Epson EMP-7000 at auction. Unfortunately I have no comparison with other projectors, but I was very surprised by the great picture on a 3 x 2m screen. A true cinema experience!!! However, you have to run the sound through a sound system, otherwise it comes across far too thin and tinny and doesn‘t match the picture. But as we don‘t use it as a TV replacement, we don‘t mind putting it up and taking it down again.
The fan isn‘t very quiet either, but that doesn‘t really bother anyone.
Conclusion: Great device for occasional cinema evenings in a class of their own
