2 Stars Mr.
Previously had a DLP Infocus projector and I have to say that the Epson TW5000 doesn‘t stand a chance against my old projector with DVDs, analog or digital TV. Blue Ray and HD are not bad, but the Infocus had a similar picture. I have also seen the JVC HD100. No comparison, they are worlds apart. I would not buy this projector again and would not recommend it to anyone. Never again LCD.

Have had the EH-TW5000 LightPower running for 2 months now. As I am still using an analog SAT reciever (waiting for the development of HD+ to buy a new SAT reciever), I was initially worried whether the picture would look good on my 2.4x1.3m screen. I connected the Onkyo TX-NR807 AV reciever in between, which upscales the picture. But I was very surprised by the picture. I hadn‘t expected such a good picture. I‘ve only ever used "normal" projectors, not HD projectors. I connected a PC to test the full resolution. The picture is great. I will get better pictures when I have an HD reciever. Blue-Ray drive for PC is on the way
My projector doesn‘t switch correctly between 16:9 and 4:3 formats. I have to do that manually. Maybe it will work with a digital reciever. I haven‘t been able to test it yet.

5 Stars Not bad
I think it‘s a shame that all the comments haven‘t even seen the Optoma HD86 in comparison. The Epson has no chance against it. Neither in contrast nor in black level. HD picture is also only 1080I. But otherwise a great device

5 Stars Epson EH TW5000 "live"
I had the opportunity to take a look at the Epson EH TW5000 "live" at Mediastar and am completely impressed!

Appearance:
"sirgoele" claims in his thread "Incidentally, the TW has adopted the almost unchanged look of the TW 1000 and TW 2000 - this was and is, to put it mildly, shit!" and immediately disqualifies himself with his statement, which is immediately comprehensible to everyone. His statement is particularly embarrassing because shortly before he calls for a moderator who could "protect us from such "qualified" statements as I find here". He himself is obviously not even able to compare the products from a purely external perspective. The external appearance has completely changed compared to the predecessors! It‘s about time, because although the round design of a TW2000 was original and "chic" from my point of view, the chassis has gone through almost five generations without any significant technical improvements in terms of ventilation, noise and dust protection. So it was time for something new, and the engineers took this literally: almost everything is new in the EH-TW5000 Light Power Edition, which is already reflected in a significant design change: From the curved shapes of a TW2000, they now switched to a more conservative but also more elegant "edgy" appearance! I like that very much.

The viewing test:
For the test, I took Peter Jackson‘s "King Kong" on Blu-ray, a disc that certainly has a certain reference character in terms of HD. So far, I‘ve only had the opportunity to watch the movie on my SONY Blu-ray player and a plasma TV and was already completely impressed by the Blu-ray. But what the Epson gets out of this disk is simply breathtaking!!! Unbelievable! Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to verbally describe the fantastic picture impression that the device made on me. Just this much. The picture looks almost three-dimensional on a 2.5 meter wide screen in a slightly darkened room. You have the impression that you can literally immerse yourself in the picture. The contrast and black level are stunning. I also looked at the much-praised JVC HD100 and can only say that I would choose the Epson without hesitation. Finally, the Reon HQV chip is also available. This has already more than proven itself in other home cinema projectors and has provided a particularly impressive level of detail, especially with conventional SD-PAL playback (e.g. from DVD). In addition to the reference performance in scaling and de-interlacing, the HQV circuit offers further image-enhancing algorithms which probably led to the fantastic picture impression that the Epson left me with. Incidentally, the dynamic aperture has also been revised. Although it is probably still the same mechanism, its control has been significantly improved. It now opens and closes much faster and can therefore influence the black level more effectively. Noise level:

In Eco mode, which is recommended for darkened rooms, the device is virtually inaudible - even if you turn the sound off completely. The fans (there are three built-in fans) are imperceptible. Instead of a central intake fan, three separate air paths have been realized in the new chassis, one for the light path, one for the lamp and one for the electronics. This means that all components receive their optimum cooling performance individually. In the case of the light path, special dust protection is important. For this reason, the separate air duct of the light path has its own dust filter. Following Sony‘s example, a finer filter material in accordion form was selected - much more effective than the filters of the predecessors. In order to further reduce the noise level, all fans are no longer firmly screwed to the chassis, but are elastically mounted on rubber buffers.

Remote Control:
The remote control is a prime example of how a projector remote control should be: Clearly organized and uncluttered, there are direct input selection buttons at the top, ergonomic navigation buttons below that are easy to operate with the thumb and common direct functions for image parameters below that. The infrared encoder also works reliably, making the device pleasantly reliable to operate.

Lens-Shift:
The positioning of the device is extremely flexible. The large zoom range is complemented by an equally large mechanical lens shift. This allows the image to be shifted by up to 96% vertically and 47% horizontally. However, it should be noted that the horizontal and vertical ranges influence each other. It is a little disappointing that comfort has been omitted. Both the zoom / focus and the lens shift have to be adjusted manually on the projector. In addition, the lens shift wheels are still not very precise and the image always shifts slightly in both directions when one of them is operated. You therefore need a little patience to align the projector perfectly with the screen. However, since you only have to do this once with a permanently installed device, I can live with it.

Conclusion:
For me, the device is currently the absolute reference in terms of HD projection! Since Mediastar was able to offer me the device for 2998,-, I bought it immediately. The only disappointing thing is that the company didn‘t have any units in stock at the time and it will probably be another 14 days before I can set up this top-quality device in my private home theater. Until now, I‘ve only had a "conventional" DLP projector from Optoma, not an HD device, which has also served me well. But I‘m really looking forward to replacing it with the Epson.

Theres plenty of competiton for the Epson Home Cinema TW 5000 but this projector seems up to the task. Of the LCD projectors, it is now my favorite, with or without a fully functional Frame Interpolation capability it`s a great projector 10++++++++

5 Stars Enjoyed
Have had the device for 14 days and am delighted. Now that the projector is finally installed (ceiling) and everything can be permanently set up, the result is even better.
The calculation of the intermediate images does not yet work perfectly, errors can occur depending on the image material. In scenes with waterfalls, flocks of birds, etc., everything works perfectly despite the high complexity; other scenes with fast individual objects, on the other hand, sometimes produce frayed objects. Especially the scaling from DVD. On my 4 meter wide screen, the pixels are less than 3 mm wide and from a viewing distance of 7 meters, of course, no longer perceptible at all. The device is whisper quiet and the adaptive iris is only rarely audible. I am very satisfied with the purchase and with JBS-Heimkino I had an absolutely obliging, competent and professional dealer as a consultant. The device was color calibrated to my own player and convinced me all along the line

Gruss

5 Stars Can you believe it: Epson TW5000
predecessor: Epson TW 500. I went to a specialist store to see how much difference there is in the picture compared to a Full HD projector (with BluRay). And I have to say, it was hard to believe how much three-dimensionality and sharpness (even with movement due to the addition of intermediate images) this projector offers. I also saw this projector in direct comparison with the JVC 750. Although this is a touch better in terms of black level and in other areas, it in no way justifies the large price premium over the Epson TW5000. And when it comes to moving images, the JVC is a cut above the Epson in terms of sharpness
Clear price-performance winner: Epson TW5000

5 Stars My insignificant opinion!
I also saw the Epson TW5000 in comparison to the Pioneer projector.
I was actually interested in DILA in comparison to my old 9 inch tube.
In the end I took another look at the Epson and was just amazed at the high picture quality on offer here. The brightness is another argument in favor of the Epson that should not be ignored. Everything I saw about the Epson
was really first class. Even the previously unspeakable pixel raster in LCD images was hardly noticeable for me at a normal distance from the image. up to now I always found LCDs weak
to horrible in comparison to the old tube projection - but the Epson has taught me better. You could easily become weak...

5 Stars And yet...
Have just seen a direct comparison between the Epson and the JVC projector. Very clear finding: The Epson is not only a class better in terms of price, but also "at least" equivalent in terms of picture quality. A great feature of the Epson: the 24p frame interpolation that can be switched on.

5 Stars Frust is not a good advisor
Well, I have to say that‘s a person with frustration talking. Paid a lot of money for a JVC HD projector and then comes a Panasonic, Sanyo or even the Epson. The only thing that helps is ironic slogans.
I‘ve seen all these projectors in tests and each one has its own strengths. My opinion is that the Epson TW 5000 is the best home cinema projector at the moment and its price makes it even more attractive. It‘s impressive what you get for your money. The Reon HQV chip was long overdue, but Epson has incorporated many good innovations. The lamp, for example, is a proprietary development with a very good spectral range. The polarization filters (vertical/horizontal) are also a great addition and increase the contrast value.
I give the overall package Tw 5000 = 100 points

5 Stars Oh jee
It would be nice if there was a moderator who could protect us from such qualified statements as I find here. To compare the TW 5000 with the HD 100 - well, you have to have been drunk to see the TW in front. Incidentally, the TW has adopted the almost unchanged look of the TW 1000 and TW 2000 - which was and is, to put it mildly, crap! The TW 5000 is certainly a good projector, but it‘s still a long way off the JVC HD series in every respect.

5 Stars No one needs more projectors...
I was lucky enough to see it in direct comparison to the JVC DLA HD100...
Although the latter is considerably more expensive, it can pack a punch...
The image stability and sharpness of movement offered by epson is first class...
This shows once again that technology is still making rapid progress and is getting cheaper at the same time.
