The projector P1165 by Acer utilizes DLP technology and, according to the spec sheet, achieves 2400 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 2000:1 at a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600. According to Acer, the lamp has a durability of 3000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 2400 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 427 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 285 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 28 decibels. Since entering the market in 2007, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

Moin, does anyone know if the projector plays Blue Ray in this quality?
Thanks :)

bad picture
White is far too bright, colors far too dark. Anyone who is enthusiastic about this projector doesn‘t know what a good picture is.

what‘s the point of ....
after a long search and wanting to spend up to 1,000 euros
I bought the acer and am - just under 700 euros below my limit - absolutely
satisfied with the thing.
I watch series from the computer/dvds in the evening in the semi-dark, that
s it. is not only enough, compared to my laptop picture
(Dell latitude 800) not really a big difference in the colors and
the contrast is also okay.
actual question, which would be superfluous with a clever manual:
USB.... !?!? is now in my computer, but somehow can‘t do anything with it. it recognized the device, that‘s it.
neither as a second monitor nor as fn+F8 does anything work.
I can‘t find any software to download.
monitor loop-through output
connector (VGA-Out)
is the only thing that‘s useful in the instructions, but that‘s it,
latin at the end (mine).
whoever has a big latinum, please write whether I can watch beamer via this usb cable or what it‘s good for ... only for looping through another
device? why does it recognize it on my computer, which is "the source"?
HELP!
thanks!

Good thing
You can hardly get anything better for 400 euros at the moment. If you can add another 150, the P1265 could be even better. Of course, these models also have rainbow effects. For my part, however, I only see them when I twitch my eyes excessively. But since watching a DVD is so little fun, I don‘t twitch. And then I don‘t see any RBE. If you like to twitch your eyes, you have to buy an LCD. A sensible distance to the projection surface because of the 800x600 pixels is of course sensible.

Important for football
Hello Fred,
I had the projector, it is only of limited use for daylight, but with your requirements you should rather look around for devices with a light output of 3000 Ansi Lumen.
Then it will also work with the neighbor
The projector is already nice and bright but in real daylight, I think the projector should have more Ansi Lumen. According to your description of the surroundings, this will certainly be the case
But the most important thing to know about your question is that the projector only has a native resolution of 800x600, i.e. In football, everything is pixelated, with fast camera pans or with pictures from a distance into the stands or from the stands onto the pitch, the resolution is just too low - that‘s just ok for films, but nothing more - better look for a projector with at least 1024x768 pixels native, then you can also enjoy football. It doesn‘t cost that much more nowadays.
I hope I have helped with the advice, best regards.

Daylight
Have a question - is the projector with its 2400 Ansi lumens also suitable for daylight?
I would like to buy one that I can use to watch soccer during the European Championships
The presentation would be in a porch that is darkened on 3 sides and the ceiling - but one side is open. Similar to a room with a glass front.
Will the Acer P1165 ??? be sufficient?

Super device in the price range...
Servus,
I‘ve now also got the device - I‘m very satisfied. Picture perfect, nice quiet projector and the RBE is hardly noticeable. WII is connected via component to VGA adapter (e.g. from al-kabelshop) (with 480p).
Have made a mistake with the 10m VGA cable, should just be a better one - not one for only 20€ (casts shadows on edges).
Achtung Knollo, don‘t just let the shipping costs fall under the table. The device is currently (17.12.) cheaper at digitalo.de....

acer p1165
An absolutely great device, which in my opinion is perfectly adequate for a cozy home cinema evening. I connected the device to the DVI input via the HDMI output of the DVD player. Super picture, vivid colors, good contrast. Of course, home theater enthusiasts will now say that the device is garbage, junk or the like. But if you want to watch movies in large format at a good price and still have a good picture, this device is the perfect choice. On the other hand, operation is really child‘s play. If you can and want to, you should buy an expensive projector. I can highly recommend this device, the price/performance ratio is absolutely top.

My first projector...
Have had the projector for a week now and am always enthusiastic about this picture, good sharpness, bright picture and fantastic colors.
Have connected it to the PC via DVI cable because it doesn‘t make such a good picture with analog signals.
RBE is visible but not bad from my point of view, fan noise (ECO mode) is no longer perceptible at room volume.
At the beginning I only used a white bed sheet for projecting and thought to myself - well the picture is not the hit but for the beamer price I can‘t complain, later I got a white chipboard from the hardware store (150 x 85cm, 16:9 format because I only watch DVDs with it anyway), mounted it on the wall and activated my Acer.
Madness...I was totally amazed at what a good screen can do, in a darkened room it‘s as if I had an LCD TV hanging on the wall, I‘m always amazed when I switch it on...
The Acer was actually only intended as a transitional solution for me as HD full projectors (not to mention BlueRay, HD-DVD media and players) are still unaffordable for me, but thanks to my little Acer I will now be able to get through this time quite easily and very patiently.

Question... Does the projector also support 480p via the VGA input?
I want to connect a Nintendo WII to the VGA port using a component cable and the adapter. Is 480p supported? Unfortunately, it is not really clear from the operating instructions....

Well, my first real projector
Hello,
Have had the P1165 for 3 days, first of all, yes RBE is visible (every now and then), but it doesn‘t bother me.
Colors are really great, especially as the previous speaker has already noted, black is really very black, so the bars on DVD don‘t bother me.
I have the projector running via PC via DVI connection, here too the RBE occurs, but less often than with the other connections, here the quality is even a tick better in terms of colors and sharpness. At a diagonal of approx. 2.5 meters, you get that really cool cinema feeling, I wouldn‘t want to miss it.
The volume of the fan on this projector is very quiet in ECO mode, a volume of 24 db is specified and I assume that it is measurably not much more, because even if the projector is behind you, you can hardly hear anything during quiet movie passages
So for little money a really cool projector, for those for whom the RBE is not so dramatic. Of course, it should also be said that those who spend more money also get more, i.e. twice as much money for a little more performance. Until HDTV has become more established and can be used, this projector is a pleasant interim solution - for me this projector is recommendable, but everyone should be aware of the limitations of the RBE.

no these colors...
Have had the P1165 for 1 week now and am very satisfied. The device is pleasantly quiet and the colors are really great - even amazing for a projector in this price range. The black stripes at the top and bottom of the picture (DVD) are black even in a darkened room sehr and are therefore not distracting - with my old Epson they were gray and very annoying. 800 x 600 is fully sufficient for DVDs. In my opinion, a very recommendable projector.
