The VP 12S1 model from Marantz combines DLP technology in the High-End Homecinema sector with 700 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 1000:1 and a native HDTV 1280 x 720 resolution. According to Marantz, the lamp has a durability of 2000 hours. The presence of a lens shift function enables flexible vertical or horizontal positioning of the projector. The achievable distances are shown in the Projection Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 269 cm can be illuminated with 700 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 179 cm. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 29 decibels. This model dates back to 2002 and is no longer part of Marantz's current product range. Note: According to our information, replacement lamps (original or generic) are no longer available for this projector.

This projector can also receive HDTV (1080i), but unfortunately only via the component input.
I own a Sony Blue Ray player from the USA and this has a component output and produces a wonderfully quiet picture with very sharp detail via the Marantz.
When using an upscaler (e.g. from Gefen), you have to make sure that it also outputs 1080i on the component output.
