The basic data of the Samsung SP A600B includes 1000 ANSI lumens, a resolution of HDTV 1920 x 1080 as well as a contrast of 3000:1. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 3000 hours. Looking at practical performance, up to 321 cm can be illuminated with 1000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 214 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. With a value of only 30 decibels, the noise level during operation remains pleasantly in the background. Since entering the market in 2009, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.

I‘ve owned the projector for 4 years and haven‘t had any problems with it yet, currently 2450 hours in Eco mode. Picture is very good and it is not audible. If it could do 3D now you wouldn‘t need anything new.

Class device
My first lamp has lasted from 2009 until today.
(at the end of the lamp‘s life, it deteriorated quickly and significantly - after approx. 2500 hours)
The picture is great. All EMs and WMs with sometimes 40 guests were always a success. The device also looks very good and turns a machine into a beautiful piece of furniture.

Super
Have been using it for 3 years now and the picture is still first class. Connected to both a home theater system and a PC. Despite a power failure in the middle of a 2-hour movie, the lamp still works. Simply a great device.

Super device for home cinema
Have had the projector for about half a year now and can‘t complain about it! The picture is great and the fan is quiet. The preset settings for movie and standard are very good. Unfortunately, I wasn‘t able to adjust the user settings to a usable level. When I tried to get the contrast as good as in the default settings, I got a visit from the rainbow when the picture got too dark.
Would buy the projector again and again.
Price/performance outstanding. I paid just under 700 euros.

Good device, but only for heavily darkened rooms
I bought this device on the basis of the many customer reviews in various forums. At first I was surprised by the size of the device, as I had read in various forums that this was a small device (the commentators probably had much larger devices). Since I wanted a device that was reasonably portable, I sent it back. In addition, the product photos suggest a rather matt surface, but it is piano lacquer and as the controls are integrated into this surface, you have the most beautiful fingerprints on the plastic. The unlit remote control looks rather inferior. The picture quality itself is very good. However, I didn‘t like the factory color settings. Even after various attempts at adjustment, I was unable to achieve a satisfactory color setting. The light output is sufficient for well-darkened rooms. This device is therefore more suitable for movie nights. I now have an Optoma HG 20 LV, which I am very happy with.

Select black level for SP A 600 B
@ Peter, the black level can only be adjusted ( from normal to low ) if RGB is actually transmitted via HDMI. With my HD-DVD player, YCbCr is transmitted via HDMI and the black level cannot be adjusted. With my Blu-ray player, RGB is transmitted via HDMI and the black level can be reduced; you can check what is coming to the projector via HDMI using INFO on your remote control.

problems samsung sp-a600
Basically: Great price & performance! Beautiful picture, I can only recommend it! My problem: despite the HDMI source, I can‘t select the black level in the menu or the mode at the bottom - they are grayed out instead of white. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I would be very dankbar.

A great device.
Also I have to say that Samsung has thrown a real jewel on the market.
After almost 35 digital projectors and 15 CRT projectors that I had owned as a projector freak, a digital Full-HD should now replace my color-calibrated Sony G70 CRT.
The expectations were accordingly great
What can I say...I was not disappointed. What took days of measuring with the CRT is available ex works with the A600B. A perfect D65 setup. Even brightness and contrast are perfectly tuned ex works. I could confidently leave my colorimeter packed away.
Pros and cons:
+Very quiet in ECO mode
+Perfect color setting out of the box
+ Crisp colors
+High picture sharpness with low fly screen
+Very vivid picture
+High Ansi contrast
+"real" 3000:1 native contrast without dynamic aperture and gamma correction
+24p mode
-In normal mode a little too loud.
-Rainbow effect present but minimal
-No lens shift and a smaller zoom range than LCD projectors
-Black level not perfect. But only noticeable in very dark scenes. As soon as even a little light comes into play, the subject is no longer true
-Sensor buttons cannot be found in the dark. The remote control is also not illuminated
On the whole, an extremely good device. I paid 950 euros with the Samsung Bluray player. That is an unbeatable price/performance ratio. I have not regretted switching from a high-end CRT to this device. I painted my rigid home-made screen a light gray. That brings a lot. More black level and more Ansi contrast as room light is absorbed

I‘m very satisfied !
I‘ve had the projector for a week and I‘m delighted. After a long back and forth between Epson, Mitsubishi and Samsung, I‘m glad I made the right decision. At the market price of 1500 euros, there is no better device.
